I’ve spent a lot of time lately just looking around and observing. As we wait for our IRS status to come through, we are in a waiting game. This has given me plenty of time to think and watch the world. I see something that is killing me inside.
I look around and watch so many get so fired up about things that are so unimportant. All the while the is a world suffering before our very eyes. This blog, we are gonna talk about that world…the one we refuse to look at.
You see, so many are hurting and looking for something. All are needing to fill a void in there lives. Regardless of what they say they believe, by nature we are born to search for God. From the drug addicts to the gangs, down to the cults…they are all searching for something to believe in.
It’s simple, if you search, you will find something. Often, if not helped, it will be something you don’t need or want. Without guidance, they find themselves on a path that only leads to Hell. Still, what do we do to help? Better yet, what is our job?
Let’s evaluate that for just a little bit. We call ourselves Christian…”Christ-like.” That means that we should act like the One we follow…thus the reason we follow Him. If we are doing are job, we will help the world find that “something” to hold onto…that “thing” to believe in.
You see, we hold the secret to it all. From happiness to eternal life in Paradise…we have the key. It’s our job to help the world to find that key…to make their way to paradise. In a world that is lost and hurting, what are we doing to help?
How often do we reach out to the homeless, orphans, war vets, or the abused? Better yet, how many times do we look at those living a life that is leading to death and say…”I love you and so does Jesus!”? If we live like that One we follow, we will help the world just by showing them a better way.
It is often our actions that reach people more than our words. People watch us, always. An old dcTalk song started off by saying, “The greatest single cause of Atheism in the world today is Christians, who acknowledge Jesus with their lips then walk out the doors and deny Him by their lifestyle. That is what an unbelieving world finds, simply unbelievable.” How true is that statement?
From preachers who have been caught in scandals to churches fighting over money, we deny Him daily by our actions. What do we do to help the world believe? How are we giving them anything to believe in, other than the fact that the church can’t even follow it’s own laws?
It’s time we start living what we preach. Practice what we teach. It’s time we go out and give the world what they need. Time we love them, help them, and most of all…give them something to believe in!
