You know, I get blogs from the craziest places. I got this one from the most unlikely place, work…better yet, a co-worker. So, she had me watch a music video that I knew had some purpose to it…still had no idea why she was wanting me to watch it so bad. As I watched it and listened to the lyrics (always being moved more by the lyrics, being an evangelist mainly for concerts), I was moved. It was a band that normally doesn’t sing of God or their beliefs in Him.
So, to keep from using the lyrics or typing about the whole song…it was about a guy that has made a lot of mistakes but is wanting to return to his faith. It really made me think…there are so many out there that are just like that. This blog is for you, those that have messed up and want to return home to Christ but feel He’s a world away.
You know, so many times we mess up. Often, we slip and travel down a road that takes us, what seems to be, a life time away from God. It’s there that Satan tells us that we can never return to the One that we once loved so much. Honestly, the church doesn’t do much to help…pointing fingers and judging for the mistakes we have made. It seems and feels like we are no longer worth the love promised to us, let alone the paradise built for us.
Still, there is something that is promised to us. Something that I am reminded of when I read of Jesus’ crucifixion. There was one man being executed next to Him that made fun of Him. The other, however, simply asked for Him to remember Him when He reaches Paradise. This was a man that deserved his fate…a man that deserved (in their societies eyes) the fate that Christ was facing.
What did Jesus say to Him? It fills me with joy each time I read it…He said, “Today you will be with Me in Paradise.” WOW! A man that had done wrong his whole life was promised a place in Heaven, simply because he believed and accepted Christ and His sacrifice. What does that say for us? Is it possible for us to return home when we traveled so far away?
So many churches tell us we can’t. Yet the Bible says other wise. Better yet, the King of Kings, the Messiah says other wise. You see, no matter how far we run…no matter how far we travel away from Grace…He is there waiting for us. No matter what we do, where we go, He is waiting for us. The Bible says no sin is unforgivable except not accepting Christ. That means that until your last breath, you can always come home. Problem? We don’t know when that last breath is going to be.
You see, every day is a blessing, a miracle. We don’t know when we will face that judgment, the day we have to face the One that created us and loved us our whole lives. When that day comes, we will either be allowed to enter into His Kingdom or face Hell…it’s that simple. In a world where so many “religious” people say that you are not worth anything, that you can’t return to God’s love and grace…God says other wise. No matter where you have been, no matter what you have done or even who you once worshiped…you can always return to God. There is always, until that last breath, a way to Come Home.
God bless, and if I can do anything to help you return to the One that created you, loves you, and can make this crazy world worth while…let me know.
