There is one weapon that we believers have. It is a powerful weapon that can overcome anything on this planet, no matter how strong or big. So many act like it is a secret that only a few know, yet it is something that we can all use at any time. So what is this ultimate weapon? It’s simple, prayer.
The Good Book talks so much about it, Jesus Himself teaches about it. It’s our way to talk to our Heavenly Daddy one on one. Still, it is so much more. It’s our way to not only talk to Him, but to ask Him for help when we need it most. There is nothing on earth that we cannot over come with His help. Despite if it is health, family, jobs, or simply needing help with life itself…there is nothing that God cannot help us overcome.
I have noticed a growing trend in the church. All too often we look at many things as something that we “can’t pray over.” Still, let’s look back at time. Let’s take sometime to think about what God has done in the past.
Yes, many of us know about Moses and how God lead His children to the Promise Land. Many of us know of Noah, Samson, and many other Biblical Heroes. Still, let’s take a deeper look at what He has done. Think back to when some pilgrims prayed to have a nation to live in peace, a place that they could worship God freely. Let’s think about a world that prayed that tyranny would end from a racist leader bent on ending any race that wasn’t white. Let’s look back on the end of 1999, when all technology was supposed to crash and we all prayed that God would help us.
Stop and think about all the times that we have prayed for help for someone who was sick and needed healing. What about all the times that we have asked for something that never came to be, only to look back and learn that God answered the prayer by NOT giving us what we wanted.
History is full of times where we have prayed and God lead us through the impossible. The very founding of this nation was a miracle, an answered prayer. Many times in my life as a minister I’ve had people ask me for help through problems. Often, I’ve had advice. Many times, I had nothing real grand to suggest. Still, there is one piece of advice that I can give to all that holds true today. It’s something that we throw around like it was nothing, yet can change the very world we live in.
What is this great piece of advice? Simple; hit your knees, bow your head, and pray. However, do not just pray…no, pray with boldness and faith. God doesn’t want us to come to Him timid and afraid to ask. He says to come to Him with boldness. Go to Him knowing that if it is what is best for you, He will do it. Know that if it isn’t what’s best, He won’t. Every war ever won, every battle that lead to victory was won on bended knees. I ask this, are you winning your war against the world and the enemy? Is Satan beating you in you personal battles? Now, I ask this; are the knees in your pants worn out? They should be! Before we go into anything; be it ministry, eating, or just waking up…we should always start every battle on bended knees. Prayer, it is the best weapon we have in our lives!
